Description: Quality Control Inspector
Position Summary
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying
incoming materials, in-process work, and finished products to ensure they meet
established quality standards, engineering specifications, customer requirements, and
company procedures. This position works closely with Production, Engineering, and
Quality personnel to identify defects, prevent quality issues, and support continuous
improvement.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform inspections of incoming materials, components, fabricated parts,
assemblies, and finished products.
Verify products meet engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, work
instructions, and customer requirements.
Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment such as
calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauges, and other inspection tools.
Perform visual inspections for workmanship, finish, damage, defects, and
compliance with established standards.
Inspect first-piece, in-process, and final production components.
Document inspection results accurately and maintain required quality records.
Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming materials or products.
Assist with determining the disposition of nonconforming products in accordance
with company procedures.
Work with Production and Engineering to investigate quality issues and identify
root causes.
Support corrective and preventive action activities.
Verify rework and corrective actions have been completed properly.
Assist with maintaining and updating inspection procedures, forms, and quality
documentation.
Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment as required.
Ensure measuring and test equipment is properly identified and within calibration
requirements.
Participate in internal audits, process audits, and continuous improvement
activities.
Monitor production processes for adherence to established quality requirements.
Provide feedback to production personnel regarding quality issues and inspection
findings.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection/work area.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory
requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in quality control, manufacturing inspection, machining,
fabrication, or a related field preferred.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Working knowledge of dimensional tolerances and basic inspection techniques.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter and maintain quality data.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or deviations from
specifications.
Ability to communicate effectively with production and management personnel.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within established
quality procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with mechanical inspection and fabrication processes.
Knowledge of GD&T.
Experience with CMM or other advanced inspection equipment.
Experience with ERP, QMS, or inspection documentation systems.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing inspections on
the production floor.
Ability to lift and move inspection equipment and materials as required.
Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, noise, dust, and other normal
production conditions while following required PPE and safety procedures.
Ability to perform visual and dimensional inspections requiring close attention to
detail.
