We've partnered with a well-established, owner operator gold mining company operating an open pit and processing complex in the WA Goldfields region. They are building a new in-house Mining Systems and Communications team from the ground up, reducing reliance on external vendors and bringing this capability onsite for the first time.
This is a genuine opportunity to shape how communications and mining technology is delivered and supported at this site, rather than stepping into an established structure with everything already mapped out. What matters most is that you know what a good comms setup looks like on a working mine site, and that you're happy to put the documentation and processes in place yourself as you go.
About the role:

What matters most is that you know what a good comms setup looks like on a working mine site, and that you're happy to put the documentation and processes in place yourself as you go.
About the role:
Reporting to the Mining Systems Supervisor, you'll support the installation, maintenance, and fault finding of communications infrastructure and operational technology across the site, including:
- DMR/TETRA radio systems and mobile two-way radios across LVs and heavy mining equipment
- LTE/5G private networks, Wi-Fi mesh, and microwave/point-to-point links
- Fleet Management System (FMS) hardware on haul trucks, dozers, graders, loaders and drills
- Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) communication hardware, cabling and antennas
- CCTV systems including fixed IP cameras and PTZ units
- Portable communications trailers and skids, including solar, battery and repeater components
- GPS and telemetry systems
About you:
- Full Australian working rights - this role offers no form of Visa sponsorship or relocation assistance
- Site startup or ramp-up experience is essential. You'll be setting a function up from nothing, so we need someone who has done this before and knows what success actually looks like on an active mine site, not just in theory
- Comfortable and confident building documentation, processes and standards where none currently exist - this is a core part of the role, not a side task
- Trade qualification in communications, electronics or electro-technology, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Proven experience with two-way radio systems, mobile fleet installations and site communication infrastructure in a mining or heavy industry environment
- Working knowledge of IP networking, wireless communications (Wi-Fi, LTE/5G) and backhaul technology
- Current WA "C" Class driver's licence
- Restricted Electrical Licence, Registered Cabler Licence, or exposure to AHS/autonomous mining communications will be highly regarded but are not essential
- $145,000–$155,000 + Superannuation
- Approximately $7,000–$8,000 in additional allowances and benefits, including the option of employer-paid health insurance or the cash equivalent
- 8:6 roster - days only, no night shift
- The opportunity to build a communications function from scratch and directly shape how it's run going forward
