The airport operates in a fast-moving and highly regulated environment where operational excellence, safety, sustainability and strong relationships all matter. This new role brings together two critical portfolios: health and safety, and across the airport’s operations, and environmental stewardship of the land, water, and biodiversity that surrounds it. It’s a rare combination, with real influence and impact from an operational perspective.
Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for ensuring the airport operates safely and in full compliance with regulatory requirements, environmental standards and industry best practice. You will have a strong focus on operational risk management and continuous improvement. Your wingspan will see you fostering a positive safety culture, strengthening organisational capability, and providing strategic and operational leadership across all health, safety, and environmental programmes, including noise, waste, emissions, and water while providing stewardship of biodiversity, wetlands, and land management initiatives.
There is a small but highly engaged team here. Given the nature of the airport environment, this is both a hands-on and strategic role, with responsibilities ranging from leading incident and risk management processes through to delivering governance-level analysis and representing the airport at relevant industry events and forums. The breadth of exposure across operational, strategic, and leadership functions also provides a unique platform for a rising leader looking to broaden their leadership capability over time.
To be successful here you will be great with people and have the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, from frontline teams through to executive leadership and Board governance. You must demonstrate relevant experience leading health, safety, environmental, and risk functions within complex and regulated environments. Aviation, transport, infrastructure, or utilities exposure will be highly regarded, but not essential.
