About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Estimator professional to join the team on an initial two-week contract, with the possibility of extension.
This role will suit someone with a strong background in timber, steel or manufacturing environments, combined with proven experience in estimating and quotations within the timber, steel or related building products sectors.
The successful candidate will be confident interpreting architectural plans, taking measurements, preparing quotations and communicating professionally with builders, joinery companies and other industry stakeholders.
You will play an important role in understanding project requirements, interpreting floor plans and determining the appropriate door and joinery requirements before preparing accurate quotations.

You will play an important role in understanding project requirements, interpreting floor plans and determining the appropriate door and joinery requirements before preparing accurate quotations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret architectural drawings and floor plans to identify door and joinery requirements.
- Take and interpret measurements to determine appropriate door sizes, specifications and quantities.
- Assess architectural drawings and specifications to determine appropriate door systems, mouldings, architraves and joinery-related solutions.
- Prepare accurate and competitive quotes for builders and other customers.
- Liaise with builders, contractors, suppliers and customers to project requirements.
- Provide professional and confident communication over the phone and via email.
- Use CAD and related design/technical software to interpret and support project requirements.
- Work with 3CX phone systems and associated communication platforms.
- Understand manufacturing processes and how design and specifications translate into production.
- Work with and understand CNC manufacturing processes, including 5-axis CNC machinery.
- Assist with general technical and estimating requirements across timber, steel and door manufacturing.
- Ensure quotations and measurements are accurate and aligned with project specifications.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience within timber manufacturing, joinery, doors or a related manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in estimating and quoting
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and floor plans.
- Confidence taking measurements and determining appropriate product requirements.
- Experience working with CAD or CAD-related software.
- Knowledge and experience with CNC machinery, particularly 5-axis machines.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Excellent phone manner and confident verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when preparing quotes.
- The ability to make practical decisions based on drawings, measurements and project requirements.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently
