The Role Reporting to the Civil Manager, you will manage civil construction projects from planning through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within scope and within budget.

This position involves operational delivery, commercial management, client communication and team leadership. You may oversee several projects concurrently, so strong organisation, commercial awareness and the ability to prioritise are essential.

The position is permanently based in Hastings. Candidates currently living elsewhere must be willing to relocate to Hawke’s Bay. This is not a FIFO opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage civil projects valued up to $5 million
• Lead, support and mentor civil delivery teams
• Develop and manage project programmes, budgets and resources
• Coordinate with clients, site teams and production teams
• Monitor project costs, financial performance and variations
• Oversee contractual, quality assurance and reporting requirements
• Maintain accurate project documentation and progress updates
• Ensure health and safety standards are consistently maintained
• Assist with tenders, pricing, quotes and client submissions
• Participate in management, project and toolbox meetings
• Maintain strong client relationships throughout delivery

Skills and Experience You will ideally bring:

• At least five years’ Project Management experience in New Zealand civil construction
• Experience delivering piling, deep foundations, structures, bridges or retaining-wall projects
• Strong knowledge of NZS 3910 and NZS 3916 contracts
• Experience with cost control, financial reporting and pricing variations
• Sound knowledge of civil construction methods, procedures and equipment
• Strong planning, operational and organisational skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• A practical and confident leadership style
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
• The ability to mentor others and contribute to a high-performing team
• A strong understanding of health and safety requirements
• A valid New Zealand driver licence
• The legal right to work in New Zealand

Position Details:

• Based in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay
• Permanent relocation to Hawke’s Bay is required
• Full-time, permanent position
• Occasional travel based on project requirements
• Company vehicle, phone and laptop provided
