The Job
As a Collections Officer, you'll manage a portfolio of consumer accounts sitting at 60+ days overdue, working proactively to re engage customers and secure sustainable repayment outcomes ahead of further escalation. Reporting to the Collections Team Leader, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing inbound and outbound contact with customers in arrears to understand individual circumstances
- Negotiating realistic repayment arrangements in line with customer capacity, company policy and regulatory guidelines
- Identifying hardship indicators early and guiding customers towards appropriate support options
- Monitoring accounts for missed or broken arrangements and following up promptly
- Maintaining accurate, compliant records across all customer interactions
- Working closely with internal teams to progress accounts efficiently and consistently
You'll bring solid collections experience, sound judgement, and a genuine ability to balance empathy with accountability. To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Proven experience collecting 60+ day overdue consumer accounts within financial services
- Asset finance background strongly preferred
- Strong negotiation skills, with a track record of achieving mutually beneficial outcomes
- A working understanding of NCCP, ASIC/ACCC guidelines and hardship principles
- Resilience and consistency in a structured, target driven environment
- Clear, confident communication skills, both written and verbal
