Senior Electrical Designer

Senior Electrical Designer 12-Month Contract | Site-Based - Residential Role | Industrial Processing Operations
An established engineering and project delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to support a major operating industrial facility. This is a site-based contract role offering the opportunity to work across sustaining capital projects, shutdowns, brownfield upgrades and improvement initiatives.
You will play a hands-on role in the delivery of electrical and instrumentation design packages, working closely with engineering, operations and project teams from concept development through to construction and commissioning.
Key responsibilities

• Produce high-quality electrical and instrumentation design deliverables across a portfolio of projects.
• Develop practical, fit-for-purpose design solutions that consider safety, operability, maintainability and constructability.
• Prepare and review design documentation including drawings, layouts and technical deliverables.
• Support project execution from concept design through to commissioning and as-built documentation.
• Participate in project reviews, design workshops and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
• Identify technical issues and contribute to the development of effective engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, process, structural and control systems disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Australian standards, project requirements and internal design procedures.
• Support project planning activities including estimates, schedules, forecasts and reporting where required.
• Maintain design quality through checking, review and change management processes.

About you

• Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent design qualification.
• Electrical trade background highly regarded.
• Electrical licence advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) design within industrial, mining, resources, manufacturing or heavy process environments.
• Strong understanding of project delivery from study and design phases through to construction and commissioning.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Technical experience Candidates should have experience with some or all of the following:
Design software

• MicroStation
• AutoCAD
• Microsoft Office Suite

Electrical design

• Single line diagrams
• Electrical schematics
• Termination diagrams
• Block diagrams
• Cable routing and cable schedules
• Equipment and panel layouts
• Lighting design
• Earthing systems and layouts

Control systems and instrumentation

• Instrumentation and control system interfaces
• Integration between field devices and control systems
• Construction support and commissioning activities
• As-built documentation development
• Brownfield modification projects and shutdown environments
