  • Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for precision metal components and assemblies.
  • Provide technical expertise in turn/mill machining centers, grinding operations, tooling, fixturing, and precision inspection methods.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing methods, routings, work instructions, setup documentation, and process controls to support efficient, repeatable production.
  • Lead projects from concept through implementation, coordinating activities across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Design and redesign products, tooling, and processes with a strong focus on ease of manufacturing, cost effectiveness, quality, and scalability.
  • Use SolidWorks to support product and fixture design, and SolidCam to develop machining strategies and improve CNC programming efficiency.
  • Drive design innovation by exploring new materials, geometries, and machining approaches that improve product performance while reducing production complexity and cost.
  • Analyze production challenges, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve throughput, yield, and product quality.
  • Support grinding and machining operations that require tight tolerances, fine surface finishes, and consistent process capability.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve workflow, reduce setup time, and standardize best practices.
  • Source components, raw materials, tooling, and outside services from qualified suppliers; evaluate supplier capabilities, quality, cost, and lead time.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to support prototype development, new part introduction, cost reduction, and ongoing supply continuity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, delivery, and manufacturing efficiency.

Qualifications of the Manufacturing Design Engineer in Hauppauge, NY:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
