Head Accountant

EMEA Recruitment is working with a growing manufacturing company. We are searching for a Head Accountant to join the Bern office.

The successful candidate will oversee financial reporting, compliance, and daily accounting operations while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency. This includes responsibility for financial statements, treasury activities, and supporting process improvements.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a new, independent organization while taking a leading role in its Finance function.

Key responsibilities of the Head Accountant include:

• Preparing accurate monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Swiss GAAP FER and managing general accounting operations
• Ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements, including VAT and tax filings
• Acting as the primary contact for auditors, authorities, and internal teams during financial audits and month-end closings
• Overseeing treasury management, liquidity planning, and contributing to various finance-related projects, such as SAP system enhancements and internal audits

Your profile:

• A university degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance & Controlling, or certification as a Finance and Accounting Specialist
• Operational expertise in financial reporting and accounting, particularly in accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger activities, with at least 5 years of experience
• Proficiency in Swiss GAAP FER and extensive SAP FI knowledge (familiarity with SAP CO and S/4 HANA is a plus)
• Strong analytical skills and a hands-on approach
• Fluency in both German and English
