Senior Finance Business Partner

The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to step into a Senior Finance Business Partner role within a well-established manufacturing environment in Christchurch. Working closely with operational and commercial leaders, you will bring financial clarity to day-to-day decisions and help shape stronger business performance.

The role offers broad exposure across manufacturing operations, financial accounting, planning and commercial decision-making. You will combine robust analysis with strong financial discipline, helping lift core finance processes and controls to an audit-ready standard while turning financial and operational data into clear actions that support sustainable performance.

The Role
You’ll be the go-to finance partner, responsible for:

• Partnering with operational and commercial leaders to provide clear financial insight, challenge and decision support.
• Leading budgeting, forecasting and business planning, including scenario modelling and regular performance reviews.
• Delivering timely management reporting and explaining results against budget, forecast and prior periods.
• Supporting month-end and year-end financial accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and reporting accuracy.
• Strengthening financial controls, documentation and supporting schedules to lift finance processes to an audit-ready standard.
• Coordinating audit requirements and responding to information requests, with clear ownership of issues through to resolution.
• Analysing manufacturing performance, including margins, yields, labour, overheads, inventory and cost variances.
• Identifying performance risks and opportunities, translating analysis into practical recommendations and measurable actions.
• Supporting pricing, product, customer, investment and capital expenditure decisions through robust commercial analysis and business cases.
• Improving reporting, planning and finance processes while strengthening financial understanding and accountability across the business.

  
Your Profile
You will bring:

• CA qualification or an equivalent professional accounting designation.
• Strong commercial finance experience, ideally gained within manufacturing, FMCG or another operationally complex environment.
• Well-developed budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and analytical capability.
• Advanced spreadsheet skills, together with confidence using ERP and business reporting systems.
• The ability to build credibility with non-finance stakeholders, ask constructive questions and influence commercial decisions.
• A clear, practical communication style, with the ability to turn complex information into meaningful insight and action.
• Sound financial accounting capability, with practical experience of reconciliations, controls, audit preparation and statutory reporting requirements.
• A process improvement mindset, with the confidence to identify gaps, establish clear documentation and embed disciplined, repeatable finance processes.
