Purpose
The Studio Team Lead is responsible for creating an uplifting experience, offering inclusive, accessible, and on-trend fitness experiences, and maximizing studio usage. You will be responsible for ensuring studio KPIs are achieved from growing active studio memberships and class counts. You will be expected to build and develop a high-performing team, enabling our members to achieve their physical, mental, and emotional fitness goals while enjoying a world-class experience during every visit.
As the STL, you will also be responsible for building and maintaining class schedules that are competitive, on-trend, and convenient for members while adhering to scheduling standards. This role is a platform for personal and professional growth, where you can ensure members and guests receive an exceptional experience through classes that motivate, uplift, and create community.
Deliverables
- Build and develop a high-performing team. This includes establishing a culture within the team that adheres to core values and drives accountability. The STL is responsible for attracting, hiring, coaching, and maximizing the engagement of the Studio Coach/Instructor team for their club.
- Increase acquisition of new studio members and improve retention of existing studio members.
- Create an approachable environment in and around all studio spaces by interacting with members and guests in a friendly, fun, energetic, and inclusive way.
- Ensure studio members receive the best value across all studio spaces. This includes consistently professional appearance and behavior from the Studio Coaches/Instructors, safe and clean studio spaces, and over-delivering on value for the price.
- Create a supportive, connected community for all Studio Coaches/Instructors and their members by providing coaching on how to successfully use tools and resources, having meaningful check-ins with your team members, and encouraging their ongoing growth and development through constructive feedback.
- Attract new members by forming personal relationships with members.
- Achieve monthly sales goals. STLs will work with their team and help contribute to meeting or exceeding monthly studio membership sales targets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Either a National Group Fitness Certification or an NCCA-accredited Personal Training Certificate is required (both preferred).
- Must be willing to obtain a Nationally Preferred PT Certification within 90 days of employment. (We help and sponsor you! )
- Yoga credential is a plus.
- Current CPR/AED Certification.
- 3+ years of experience teaching Group Fitness, Small Group Training classes, and/or boutique fitness classes. Experience leading group classes at a specialty studio preferred.
- Sales experience a plus but not required.
- Experience and interest in leading, communicating, coaching, teaching, or performing in front of a group of people.
- General knowledge and experience with kinesiology, exercise science, physical fitness, etc.
- Applicable and transferable management experience preferred.
- Self-motivated with a high degree of ownership, sense of urgency, ability to problem solve and work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Great problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passionate about fitness, changing lives, and helping others reach their goals.
- Energizing with a positive attitude, promoting an upbeat, enthusiastic, high-energy environment.
- Minimum local travel may be required for support, training, or other purposes as needed.
Working Conditions
Primary work in a fitness facility and office setting. Temperature variations can occur. The environment includes some ambient noise such as talking and use of gym equipment and machinery.
Physical and Mental Activities and Requirements
- Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Physical Strength: Non-sedentary work, standing and walking most of the time. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds. Meet the physical criteria of the format to be instructed.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions and relay instructions to clients.
- Attendance is an essential duty of the position. Employees must work regularly scheduled shifts during business hours to assist members and sell services in person.
