We're partnering with a rapidly growing Data & AI consultancy that's building one of the strongest Databricks practices in Australia.
With an expanding portfolio of enterprise clients, they're looking for an experienced Data Architect who can lead the design of modern Databricks Lakehouse platforms while working closely with clients to shape data strategy, architecture and delivery.
About the Role
You'll work across a variety of enterprise engagements, partnering with business and technical stakeholders to design scalable, secure and AI-ready data platforms built on Databricks.
This is a consulting role where you'll combine architecture, client advisory and technical leadership. You'll facilitate discovery workshops, define solution architectures, mentor engineering teams and provide architectural oversight from strategy through to production delivery.
You'll also play a key role in helping establish architecture standards, reusable frameworks and best practices across a growing Data & AI practice. Your responsibilities include:
- Architect enterprise Databricks Lakehouse solutions.
- Design modern cloud data platforms using Databricks and Azure.
- Define Medallion architecture, governance and platform standards.
- Design scalable ingestion, transformation and analytics frameworks.
- Lead architecture workshops with enterprise clients.
- Provide technical leadership throughout delivery.
- Guide engineering teams on architecture, implementation and best practice.
- Design CI/CD and deployment strategies for Databricks environments.
- Contribute to solution design, proposals and pre-sales engagements.
- Drive continuous improvement through reusable architecture assets and standards.
You'll be an experienced Data Architect with a strong consulting mindset and proven experience delivering enterprise Databricks solutions. You'll ideally bring:
- 8+ years' experience across Data Engineering, Data Architecture or Cloud Data Platforms.
- Extensive commercial experience designing Databricks solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Lakehouse architecture and Medallion design.
- Deep expertise across: Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables (DLT), Lakeflow, Databricks Asset Bundles (DAB), Databricks Workflows, and Databricks SQL
- Strong Python, PySpark and SQL skills.
- Experience with Azure and modern cloud data services.
- Experience implementing CI/CD, DevOps and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security and platform optimisation.
- Experience leading client workshops and engaging senior stakeholders.
- Databricks certifications will be highly regarded.
