Associate/Senior Associate - Commercial Real Estate Department

Beaumont Legal Recruitment is working with a highly regarded Scottish law firm to recruit an Associate or Senior Associate for its established Commercial Real Estate team in Edinburgh.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial property lawyer to join a friendly, ambitious and supportive team undertaking complex development work across Scotland.
 
The team advises residential developers, housing associations, care-home operators, later-living developers and landowners. The wider practice acts for an extensive client base that includes retailers, hotel and leisure operators, institutional investors, utilities, energy companies, universities, charities and other public and private-sector organisations.
 
The role
 
You will take a leading role in complex and high-value commercial property transactions, with a particular emphasis on residential development.
 
Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading land acquisitions and disposals for private developers and public-sector clients
• Advising on greenfield developments, brownfield redevelopment projects, golden-brick structures and turnkey housing transactions
• Handling strategic land transactions with support from specialist planning, construction and energy lawyers
• Drafting Deeds of Conditions and Development Management Scheme Deeds of Conditions for new developments
• Negotiating promotion agreements, option agreements and joint-venture agreements
• Providing property due-diligence support on corporate transactions
• Managing matters from initial instruction through to completion
• Supervising, delegating to and supporting the development of junior team members
• Building strong client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the practice

About you
 
You will be a Scottish-qualified solicitor with at least six years' PQE and a strong commitment to a long-term career in commercial property.
 
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Strong technical knowledge of Scottish property law
• Experience handling complex transactions from instruction through to completion
• Proven experience in development, investment, asset management or corporate support work
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, delegation and communication skills
• A proactive and commercially focused approach
• The ability to manage a varied workload independently and as part of a team
• Strong client-care and relationship-management skills
• Effective time management and an understanding of matter profitability
• Sound judgement and the ability to identify and manage risk

Previous residential development experience would be particularly valuable, although candidates with strong transferable commercial real estate experience are also encouraged to apply.
