SAP HR Functional Expert

Paxus is partnering with a large, complex public-sector environment to secure an experienced SAP HR Functional Expert to support and enhance a mission-critical SAP HR & Payroll landscape on SAP S/4HANA. This is a hands-on functional role across BAU support + major optimisation initiatives, requiring deep Time and Payroll configuration capability.

You’ll join a HR functional team supporting a large and complex SAP HR/Payroll environment. The focus will be on keeping the platform stable and compliant while delivering enhancements and optimisation work across HR and payroll processes.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide expert functional support across SAP HCM & Payroll in a complex environment
• Lead functional analysis, investigation, solution design, configuration and delivery of enhancements/defect fixes
• Translate business requirements into workable SAP HR/Payroll solutions and clear documentation
• Perform configuration, documentation and testing (unit, integration support, regression/UAT support)
• Support integration activities between SAP and other HR-critical systems
• Produce high-quality deliverables (solution designs, functional specs, configuration docs, test scripts/evidence, support docs)
• Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to uplift internal capability over time

Mandatory skills & experience (please only apply if you meet these)

• Strong, proven experience in SAP Payroll support, design and configuration (including rules and schemas)
• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex business requirements and translate them into SAP HR solutions
• Strong documentation capability and disciplined delivery practices
• Confident stakeholder engagement skills across HR/Payroll and technology teams

Highly regarded

• Experience configuring/maintaining across Payroll, PA, PD, OM, ESS/MSS
• Background delivering HR/payroll optimisation outcomes (e.g., awards standardisation, timesheet-to-pay automation, pay run automation)
• Experience in government environments
• Exposure to HR/payroll tooling such as Payroll Control Centre, Off-Cycle Workbench, HR/Payroll Workbench
• Exposure to SAP upgrades, enhancement packs, support packs
• Exposure to SAP Datasphere and/or SAP BTP
• Understanding of SAP S/4HANA integration concepts
