Pay rate: $36.81 per hour
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Laundry Assistant to support day-to-day laundry operations within a secure work environment. This hands-on role involves receiving, checking, moving and preparing laundry for washing while following strict security, confidentiality and workplace safety procedures.
To succeed in this role, you must be comfortable working alongside inmates in a secure environment, maintain clear professional boundaries, and follow all security and site procedures.
About the role

• Collect, receive and deliver laundry items.
• Inspect laundry before washing to ensure it is free from contraband and unauthorised items.
• Securely handle and store any prohibited or unauthorised items in accordance with operating procedures.
• Operate laundry equipment safely and report defects, faults or procedural concerns to the supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all security requirements.
• Contribute to a safe workplace by following work health and safety policies, procedures and instructions.
• Report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.
• Complete other duties appropriate to the role as required.

About you

• You are comfortable working in a secure environment alongside inmates.
• You can follow detailed security, safety and operating procedures.
• You demonstrate sound judgement, integrity and respect for confidentiality.
• You are physically capable of completing practical laundry duties, including handling and moving laundry items.
• You work well under direct supervision and contribute positively to a team.
• You are dependable, observant and willing to speak up about safety or security concerns.
• Ideally, you will hold a current Working with Vulnerable People registration and National Police Check or be willing to obtain them.
