Role Overview
Reporting to the Manager Economic Development and Strategic Projects, the Coordinator Economic Development will coordinate a diverse portfolio of economic development initiatives across the City of Unley. This is a full-time, five-year contract offering the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the City of Unley's long-term economic vision and strategic priorities.
This is a broad, delivery-focused role encompassing business engagement, projects and programs, events and activations, economic data and insights, policy support, investment attraction and business-facing communications.
You will take ownership of initiatives from planning through to delivery and evaluation, translating strategic priorities into practical actions and measurable outcomes. Success in this role will rely on your ability to anticipate what is needed, establish a clear delivery pathway and progress initiatives with a high degree of independence.

Strong project and program coordination skills, combined with excellent stakeholder engagement, will enable you to progress initiatives with confidence and take ownership from planning through to delivery and evaluation.
Experience in economic development, business engagement, project or program delivery, or a related environment will be well regarded. Most importantly, you will demonstrate the ability to build productive relationships, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- · Coordinate and deliver a diverse portfolio of economic development initiatives that support business growth, investment and long-term economic outcomes across the city.
- · Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, industry, government and community stakeholders to identify opportunities, encourage collaboration and strengthen the local economy.
- · Plan and deliver business engagement activities, networking opportunities, events and programs that support local business capability, participation and growth.
- · Contribute to initiatives that attract investment, encourage business retention and expansion, and enhance Unley's reputation as a destination to invest, work and do business.
- · Analyse economic data and business trends to provide insights, prepare reports and support evidence-based decision making.
- · Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within budget and aligned with Council priorities.
- · Support the delivery of business communications, digital content and promotional initiatives that encourage business engagement and showcase economic development opportunities.
- · Prepare high-quality reports, briefing papers and correspondence to support projects, programs and strategic initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- · Relevant qualifications in economic development, business, marketing, planning or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- · Experience in economic development, business engagement, project or program coordination, or a similar role where stakeholder engagement has been a key focus.
- · Demonstrated experience coordinating projects and initiatives from planning through to delivery, balancing competing priorities and achieving successful outcomes.
- · Well developed relationship management skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with businesses, industry, government and internal stakeholders.
- · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into practical outcomes.
- · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, briefings and business communications.
- · Experience coordinating business engagement activities, events, marketing initiatives or digital communications will be highly regarded.
- · Proficiency across the Microsoft 365 suite. Experience with Canva, InDesign, Mailchimp or similar digital platforms will be advantageous.
