Design Engineer

We’re working with a growing engineering consultancy specialising in highways, transport planning, and infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Design Engineer to join their Birmingham team.

The Role

• Supporting the design and delivery of highway and infrastructure projects
• Ensuring projects are delivered to programme and budget requirements
• Producing and reviewing technical drawings, reports, and design information
• Assisting with Section 278 and Section 38 highway schemes
• Ensuring designs comply with DMRB, MCHW, and local design standards
• Liaising with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, and external stakeholders
• Supporting project delivery across multiple disciplines and offices
• Assisting with risk management and compliance with Health & Safety and CDM Regulations
• Contributing to continuous improvement and innovative design solutions

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working on Section 278 and Section 38 highway projects
• Strong technical knowledge within highways and infrastructure design
• Experience delivering projects to programme and budget
• Strong understanding of DMRB and highway technical standards
• Working knowledge of Civils 3D CAD software
• Confident communicator with strong organisational skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Experience advising clients on technical highway matters
• Full UK driving licence preferred

• Experience preparing cost estimates
• Membership with a relevant Chartered Institute
