An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a Local Government organisation in New South Wales and take ownership of the end-to-end weekly payroll function.

This is a temporary contract, with the opportunity for a permanent role. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and process Council's weekly payroll cycle.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee data, including new starters, terminations, pay changes, and deductions.
  • Process superannuation contributions and salary sacrifice arrangements.
  • Calculate and process termination payments in accordance with relevant legislation and taxation requirements.
  • Prepare payroll reconciliations, reports, and year-end payroll activities.
  • Monitor payroll compliance with awards, taxation, superannuation, and legislative requirements.
  • Provide payroll reporting and support to Finance and Human Resources teams.
  • Assist with payroll-related enquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience processing payroll in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and payroll best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
Highly Desirable:
  • Previous Local Government payroll experience.
  • Experience using TechnologyOne Payroll.
