Test Manager – Data & Analytics

Are you an experienced Test Manager with a strong background in data platforms, business intelligence, and cloud analytics environments?

We are partnering with a large Queensland Government organisation undertaking a significant Data Modernisation Program that will transform enterprise reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping testing strategy and ensuring the successful delivery of a modern cloud-based data platform.

About the Role

As the Test Manager, you will lead the testing function across a large-scale enterprise data and analytics initiative. You will be responsible for defining the overall testing strategy, developing comprehensive test plans, and ensuring the quality and integrity of data products delivered across the platform.

Working closely with Data Analysts, Data Modellers, Business Stakeholders, and Technical Delivery Teams, you will help establish best-practice testing frameworks and support the transition to a modern analytics environment powered by Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Test Strategy and Test Plans for an enterprise data platform.
• Design and execute test cases covering system integration, functional, performance, security, regression, smoke, and production verification testing.
• Collaborate with data and analytics teams to translate business and reporting requirements into effective testing approaches.
• Validate data quality, transformations, and reporting outputs across data warehouse and analytics solutions.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and coordinate defect management activities.
• Establish testing frameworks, standards, and governance processes to support long-term operational capability.
• Ensure testing evidence and results are captured and maintained for audit and release management purposes.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, risk identification, and delivery activities.
• Support business adoption of new analytics and reporting capabilities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Proven experience as a Test Manager or Test Lead within Data & Analytics or Business Intelligence environments.
• Strong experience testing enterprise data warehouse solutions and cloud-based analytics platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Azure technologies, Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lakes, SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI.
• Experience validating ETL/ELT processes, data transformations, reporting layers, and business intelligence solutions.
• Strong SQL scripting skills for data validation and testing.
• Experience testing APIs and data integration solutions.
• Experience validating user access controls, security requirements, and data governance controls.
• Knowledge of metadata-driven testing frameworks and modern Data Lakehouse architectures.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to work across both business and technical teams.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Desirable Skills

• Microsoft Fabric experience.
• Python or similar scripting language experience.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent testing qualifications.
• Azure or cloud-related certifications.
• Degree qualification in Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
