The Sanitation Attendant is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing manufacturing equipment, production areas, and facility spaces to maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment. This role ensures that all sanitation procedures meet company standards, quality requirements, and applicable health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Comply with all cGMP, safety, and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) requirements.
- Communicate with management and supervisors regarding any potential cGMP, safety, or sanitation issues within the facility.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain the facility to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the facility as directed.
- Respond to emergency cleaning and maintenance requests as needed.
- Monitor cleaning supply inventory levels and report any shortages or equipment issues to the Department Manager.
- Operate and maintain basic cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Cross-train in all areas of sanitation responsibilities.
- Assist in training new employees or temporary staff as needed for vacation or shift coverage.
- Complete all assigned daily tasks and maintain accurate paperwork/documentation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Ability to maintain facility and equipment according to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and regulated food production requirements under cGMP guidelines.
- Knowledge of proper use of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and sanitation equipment.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
Working Conditions
- Frequent interaction with the Sanitation Manager, Production Manager, and Supervisors.
- Regular exposure to wet, humid, and slippery environments.
- Frequent standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of janitorial or sanitation experience.
- Must comply with all company quality and safety standards.
- Ability to frequently lift to 30 lbs.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Ability to work in wet, humid, and slippery conditions.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Ability to take initiative and work without close supervision.
- Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, with the ability to complete additional training in sanitation and safety regulations.
