Senior Data Scientist

Overview

Client is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to develop, deploy, and industrialize enterprise applications that leverage machine learning to extract value from structured and unstructured data across Commercial and Medical organizations. This role serves as a strategic partner to stakeholders, helping shape business priorities and deliver actionable insights through advanced analytics and AI solutions.

The position requires close collaboration with product owners, data leads, ML engineers, and cross-functional teams to build scalable machine learning applications while maintaining strong standards for data ethics, model validation, governance, and regulatory compliance.

Core Responsibilities

• Drive the development, deployment, and industrialization of enterprise machine learning applications using techniques such as classification, regression, and forecasting.

• Generate business value from structured and unstructured data across Commercial and Medical domains.

• Partner with stakeholders to define impactful business priorities and provide data-driven guidance based on analysis and research.

• Collaborate with data science product owners, data leads, ML engineers, and related teams to develop efficient machine learning solutions and deliver actionable business insights.

• Ensure adherence to data ethics, model validation standards, regulatory requirements, and data governance practices.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in data science or related roles.

• Proficiency in Python and/or R.

• Knowledge of SQL for database management.

• Strong expertise in machine learning and deep learning techniques.

• Demonstrated experience developing end-to-end machine learning solutions, from conceptualization and prototyping through production deployment and monitoring.

• Experience with cloud computing platforms and data science tools such as AWS, GCP, or similar technologies.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex analyses to non-technical stakeholders.

• Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data science product owners, ML engineers, and MLOps teams to deploy production-ready machine learning applications.

• Proven ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into clear, data-driven analytical initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.

• Strong understanding of MLOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, and performance monitoring for scalable and reliable production environments.

• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Skills or Experience

• Experience applying advanced data science and predictive modeling techniques within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, including adherence to data governance, regulatory compliance, and model validation standards.

• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.

• Contributions to open-source projects or publications in data science.

• Relevant certifications in data science, machine learning, AI, AWS, or similar technologies.

• Experience working with large-scale datasets using Hadoop, Spark, or other big data platforms.

• Proficiency applying machine learning techniques for insight generation, ROI calculation, text classification, clustering, and related use cases.

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Data Studio, or similar platforms.

• Experience translating research and analytical findings into concise, compelling presentations and business narratives that influence decision-making and strategy.

Work Details

• Location: South San Francisco, California.

• Position is based onsite at the Client campus.
