Senior Transmission Line Engineer (PE)

Hydrogen Group is recruiting a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to support a major electric utility on a 12-month contract based in Pomona, California, with a hybrid schedule of two days per week onsite.

This position is primarily focused on technical engineering excellence rather than project management. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert responsible for transmission and distribution line engineering, structural analysis, and detailed design using industry-leading engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission and distribution line design using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Caisson.
• Complete structural analysis for overhead transmission and distribution systems.
• Design new pole structures and evaluate existing utility infrastructure.
• Produce engineering calculations, models, and technical documentation.
• Review engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with quality standards and applicable codes.
• Support construction teams by resolving engineering issues encountered in the field.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and emergency restoration efforts following storms or wildfire events.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and design criteria.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on transmission line design methodologies.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to deliver technically accurate solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Active California Professional Engineer (PE) License.
• Seven or more years of experience in transmission and distribution line engineering.
• Strong experience designing electric utility systems.
• Advanced proficiency with:
  • PLS-CADD
  • PLS-Pole
  • AutoCAD
• Strong knowledge of:
  • California GO95
  • NESC
  • ASCE design standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using PLS-Caisson.
• Experience with SPIDAcalc.
• Previous experience supporting California electric utilities.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Assignment Details

• Location: Pomona, CA
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Hybrid: Two days onsite each week
• Duration: 12-month contract
• Pay Rate: Up to $111.73/hour
