Computer Operator Direct

Overview

Client is seeking an IT Computer Operator to support a 24x7 data center environment. This role is responsible for monitoring systems, managing batch balancing activities, responding to alerts, supporting internal and external users, and troubleshooting software, hardware, and peripheral issues across Windows, Linux, cloud, and internal platforms.

Core Responsibilities

• Monitor and control computer systems, cloud software, internal applications, and peripheral systems in a 24x7 data center environment.
• Support batch balancing and load adjustments based on project and operational priorities.
• Monitor, identify, engage, and resolve system alerts.
• Respond to support calls from internal users, global users, vendors, and support teams.
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, and peripheral issues.
• Use commands, programs, and scripts to support system operations.
• Document issues, actions taken, and operational updates.
• Communicate with internal and external customers, vendors, and technical support teams.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 6 months of related experience, training, or education.
• Experience supporting or monitoring Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Strong command-line, program, or scripting knowledge.
• Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with users, vendors, and support teams.
• Ability to regularly stand, crouch, stoop, walk, push, and pull carts or equipment.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Details

• Onsite in Houston, TX.
• 3rd shift: 10:15 PM – 6:15 AM.
• Days off will most likely be mid-week.
• 24x7 data center environment.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and bad weather days as needed.
