Director of Business Operations

Introduction:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Business Operations to lead and oversee the operations of one of the largest laboratories specializing in asbestos analysis. This role involves managing a large team of analysts and driving operational excellence within a key facility. The position is based in Shizuoka and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in the environmental safety and testing industry.

About the Role:

As the Director, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a team of 80 lab analysts. This role requires close collaboration with other departments such as sales and technical teams, as well as participation in cross-functional and industry-wide projects to drive the success of the business.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of approximately 80 analysts, including recruitment, performance management, training, and professional development.
• Enhance operational efficiency by leading process optimization and technological advancements in laboratory analysis.
• Support the development and execution of operational strategies to align with business objectives.
• Oversee the management and maintenance of laboratory facilities to ensure optimal working conditions.
• Collaborate with internal departments, including sales and technical teams, and lead cross-functional projects.
• Participate in industry-wide initiatives and internal projects to foster innovation and collaboration.

Requirements:

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience overseeing a team of 30-50 employees, ideally in a technical, production, or quality control environment.
• Prior experience in laboratory analysis or the asbestos industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
• Proven ability to communicate corporate strategies to teams and provide insights to senior leadership.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
• Language:
• Native-level Japanese proficiency is required.
• English proficiency is preferred but not mandatory.
