AI Engineer

We’re looking for a highly skilled AI Engineer to join a National AI CoE to design, build and deploy sophisticated AI agents that orchestrate data, workflows and decision-making across the firm.

This is a hands-on, end-to-end role — from rapid prototyping through to production rollout. You’ll translate strategy into working systems and tie technical decisions directly to measurable business outcomes (dollars earned, hours saved, efficiency gained).

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop robust AI agents using Python
• Own the full lifecycle: prototype → production → optimisation
• Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems
• Evaluate and leverage 3rd-party models, understanding strengths and trade-offs
• Build and maintain agent evaluation platforms
• Write clean, unit-tested, production-grade code
• Uphold strong CI/CD, documentation, and code review standards
• Troubleshoot, debug and optimise AI systems for performance and reliability
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or related field
• 6+ years professional experience developing Python applications
• Deep expertise in Python 3.x (asyncio, type hints, context managers)
• Strong grasp of software design patterns, OOP, and modular architecture
• Experience with AI/ML libraries and integration with 3rd-party AI services
• Commercial or open-source experience building AI agents
• Familiarity with enterprise tooling (Git, Confluence, Slack)
• Strong problem-solving ability in dynamic, high-performance environments
