Working closely with our client, FRS Recruitment are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their expanding South Dublin team.

The successful candidate will oversee the design function across several live construction projects, typically including residential, mixed-use and other unique developments, with project values generally in the region of €15/20 million. Each project benefits from its own dedicated Design Engineer, with this position providing overall coordination, technical oversight and support across multiple live projects.

Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams, you will play a key role in identifying design challenges, resolving technical issues before they impact site operations and ensuring design information is coordinated and issued in line with project programmes.

This position would suit an experienced Design Manager, although it would also be an excellent opportunity for a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager looking to move into a more design-focused role while remaining closely involved in project delivery. Candidates from a strong architectural or multidisciplinary consultancy background will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design process across multiple live construction projects.
  • Coordinate design information from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Review designs for buildability, compliance and technical coordination.
  • Identify and resolve on-site design and construction challenges.
  • Liaise closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams.
  • Chair design coordination meetings and manage key design interfaces.
  • Monitor design programmes, technical risks and statutory compliance.
  • Support Project Managers and Design Engineers throughout project delivery.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in a Design Manager or similar technical leadership role.
  • Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager experience will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and project delivery.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Main contractor experience highly advantageous.
  • Strong architectural or multidisciplinary consultancy experience also considered.
