Zenergy is a specialist search and recruitment agency operating across workers compensation, injury management and the broader health, safety, environment and quality sector. Celebrating 20 years as Australia's trusted HSEQ talent partner, we have been exclusively engaged to appoint a Head of Workers Compensation Governance for one of Australia's most recognised employers.
This is a rare opportunity to steward one of the most significant and complex workers' compensation self-insurance portfolios in the region. Reporting to the Group Head of Workers Compensation, you will lead across the key pillars of regulatory relationships, licence management, Third Party Administrator (TPA) performance and financial oversight — placing injured team members at the heart of their recovery journey while delivering exceptional value to the Group.
The Opportunity
▪ Accountable for maintaining and optimising self-insurance licences across all Australian jurisdictions, ensuring rigorous adherence to Group-wide compliance frameworks and statutory standards.
▪ Serve as the primary executive contact for state and territory regulators, building influential relationships that enhance compliance and business reputation.
▪ Provide strategic leadership of the Third Party Administrator relationship through a shared-value lens, managing the full contract lifecycle and driving continuous improvement against CPIs and KPIs.
▪ Lead the Group's self-insurance audit program, ensuring the business and TPA are audit-ready at all times, with corrective actions executed with precision.
▪ Act as subject-matter expert to Group Counsel on complex common law claims and high-risk litigation.
▪ Lead, coach and mentor a dedicated team of 3–5 specialists, lifting technical capability across the wider injury management function.
About You
▪ 15+ years of workers' compensation and claims management expertise, including deep understanding of common law and psychological injury claims.
▪ Deep subject-matter expertise in self-insurance licensing and legislative frameworks across all Australian jurisdictions.
▪ Experience leading rigorous self-insurance audit programs and leveraging data-driven insights to mitigate strategic risk.
▪ Proven track record supporting large-scale actuarial liability provisions and monitoring portfolio performance against P&L forecasts.
▪ An influential, strategic leader capable of building high trust at Director and Head-of level within a complex, matrixed national environment.
▪ A caring, supportive and empowering leadership style — a natural collaborator and coach who moves beyond business-as-usual to drive better outcomes.
What's on Offer
▪ $250,000 package + bonus.
▪ An initial 6-month interim appointment with genuine opportunity to transition to an ongoing permanent executive role.
▪ Executive visibility within a top-tier ASX-listed organisation, with flexibility across Sydney
▪ The chance to shape governance across one of the region's most significant self-insurance portfolios.
