Project Planner
Multi-site | Office & Site-Based | Primavera P6 / Project Controls

Amplifi Talent are partnering with an engineering services business to appoint a Project Planner to take ownership of project planning, programme control and performance analysis across live projects.

This represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional with a background in construction, industrial or mechanical and electrical projects to play a central role in coordinating programmes, resources and delivery.

The successful candidate will work closely with project, construction and commercial teams, providing clear insight into progress, identifying potential delays and ensuring that planning reflects the realities of site delivery.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a business where planning directly supports project delivery and commercial decision-making. Reporting to the Projects Manager, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and manage Primavera P6 baseline programmes, updates and recovery plans
  • Work closely with site teams to validate progress and coordinate construction sequencing
  • Identify constraints and assess their impact on project milestones
  • Develop labour forecasts, resource plans and productivity analysis
  • Support daily and weekly planning, including two-week and six-week look-ahead programmes
  • Integrate programme information with cost forecasts and earned value reporting
  • Support delay analysis, Extension of Time assessments and commercial claims
  • Provide clear reporting for project teams, clients and senior leadership
  • Improve planning systems, templates and reporting across projects

The role would suit somebody who enjoys combining detailed programme analysis with practical site engagement, working collaboratively to anticipate challenges and keep projects on track. Regular site engagement is required.

The Person

Key experience is likely to include:

  • Strong experience as a Project Planner within construction, industrial or mechanical and electrical environments
  • Advanced Primavera P6 capability, which is essential for the role
  • A strong understanding of construction sequencing, labour productivity and resource planning
  • Experience of earned value reporting, delay analysis and Extension of Time support
  • Advanced Excel skills, including resource histograms, S-curves and forecasting
  • Familiarity with job costing systems and site progress records
  • The confidence to challenge delivery assumptions constructively and support corrective action
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly

The role may suit candidates currently operating within:

  • engineering and construction contractors
  • mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors
  • industrial project delivery businesses
  • specialist planning and project controls consultancies
