The company is an innovative online marketplace connecting agricultural buyers and sellers and provides a procurement solution for fresh produce distributors enabling them to purchase produce from a global network of growers through a fully managed procurement experience. They are currently in search of a Procurement Manager to focus on developing relationships, negotiating prices, setting up contracts, and managing procurement.

The company is dedicated to constructing the foundational infrastructure that underpins the global agriculture trade landscape. Envisioning a future where growers seamlessly deliver top-tier products to retailers, uphold sustainable farming practices, safeguard the environment, and receive equitable compensation.
The company operates as the orchestrator and manager of intricate food supply chains, seamlessly handling sourcing, communication, financing, payments, logistics, and quality assurance.
Specializing initially in European apples, they are strategically positioned to expand into the citrus market, focusing on Morocco, Spain, and South Africa. Acting as an outsourced procurement function for buyers, their operations presently include active engagement in citrus trade with Egypt. Suppliers benefit from global market access, and ensuring a year-round supply for buyers. In parallel, their commitment to efficiency is evident in the ongoing development of automation software, aimed at optimizing and streamlining platform operations with a focus on user experience.

- Establish and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in the agriculture sector, focusing on growers, suppliers, and partners.
- Collaborate with industry players to foster a collaborative network that supports the company's procurement objectives.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and contractual terms for the procurement of produce such as apples, citrus etc.
- Develop and maintain contracts, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and industry standards.
- Oversee end-to-end procurement operations, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and adherence to quality standards.
- Work closely with internal teams to streamline processes and address any operational challenges.
- Strategically plan and execute the shipping of 100 containers of apples and 200 containers of citrus in the upcoming season.
- Collaborate with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation.
- Demonstrate exceptional performance and leadership potential for future roles.

YOUR EXPERTISE
Minimum education/qualification/experience
- A degree in Business or any related field - desirable
- 5+ years of related work experience in a procurement function
- Demonstrate a solid foundation in commercial, supplier assessments, and pricing negotiation.
- Product knowledge of citrus and apples with current contacts across South Africa for relevant growers/exporters
- Must be a team player, actively contributing to collaborative efforts within the organization.
- Exhibits a strong personality that aligns with the demands of the role.
- An entrepreneurial mindset is crucial, demonstrating a proactive and innovative approach to their responsibilities.
- Work cross-functionally with other departments and maintain good relationships.
- International mindset.
- Strategic skills – proven success in developing strategies.
- Must be capable of engaging in both local and some international travel as required for business-related activities.
- Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English.
