Apply directAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced property accounting professional to join a well-established commercial property business based in Auckland.
This role will take ownership of the financial management of a commercial property portfolio, including shopping centres and mixed-use assets. Working closely with operational stakeholders and supported by a Property Administrator, you will play a key role across trust accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, wash-ups, compliance, and portfolio performance.
This position would suit someone with strong commercial property accounting experience who enjoys working in a hands-on and collaborative environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesTrust Accounting & Banking
- Reconcile trust accounts across multiple properties
- Oversee daily receipting, payments, transfers, and owner distributions
- Ensure compliance with trust accounting requirements
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial reports, journals, and accruals
- Review P&L reporting and maintain financial accuracy across the portfolio
- Assist with forecasting and financial analysis
Tenant & Lease Accounting
- Oversee tenant accounts, rent reviews, and lease-related charges
- Review tenant statements, reconciliations, and recoveries
- Ensure lease data and billing information is accurately maintained
Budgeting & Outgoings Wash-Ups
- Lead annual property and tenant budgeting processes
- Manage outgoings wash-ups and expense recoveries
- Maintain accurate expense allocations and coding
Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate and lead audit processes
- Ensure ongoing compliance across trust and property accounting functions
Portfolio Onboarding
- Assist with onboarding new properties and establishing financial structures and processes
- Previous experience in commercial property or trust accounting
- Strong understanding of budgeting, outgoings recoveries, and wash-ups
- Knowledge of commercial leases and tenant accounting
- Strong reporting and reconciliation skills
- High attention to detail with strong organisational capability
- Ability to build relationships across property and finance teams
- Experience working across retail or shopping centre portfolios will be highly regarded
