Apply directAuScope is Australia’s provider of research infrastructure to the Earth and Geospatial Science community. Funded through the Commonwealth NCRIS program, AuScope provides expertise, analytics and data infrastructure systems which support a growing and diverse portfolio of research programs across academic and government institutions nationally, and it has a beneficial role in helping to address the challenges which influence the resilience of Australia’s economy, society and environment.
Reporting to the CEO, your primary mandate will be to lead the positioning of AuScope’s national strategic value to government, funding bodies and key stakeholders. You will develop and deliver AuScope’s strategic communications framework, ensuring a clear and compelling narrative that elevates AuScope’s profile, engagement and reputation across government, funding and research communities. Working as part of a small and highly collegial team, this role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery. In addition to advising the CEO and supporting stakeholder engagement activities, you will actively develop communications content, coordinate campaigns and events, manage digital channels, contribute to media and public relations activities, and help deliver the day-to-day communications function. Success in the role will require agility, initiative and a willingness to move comfortably between strategic planning and practical execution in a dynamic environment.
This is a brilliant opportunity for a strategic communications professional to support the ongoing success of a purpose led enterprise which delivers impactful outcomes across Australia’s national research ecosystem. You should possess demonstrable experience in stakeholder engagement, government relations, public relations or funding advocacy ideally gained in complex environments (prior experience in research, higher education, science or government sectors is desirable but not essential). Self-reliant and highly engaging, you are likely to be an outstanding communicator who possesses a flair for translating complex technical or scientific information into compelling narratives and the energy and drive to build collaborative and influential relationships. You are equally comfortable developing strategy and rolling up your sleeves to deliver communications activities, thriving in a small team environment where adaptability and initiative are highly valued.
