Project Manager - Alternative Fuels and Materials Handling

Take ownership of a project that puts your industrial experience to work.

Our client, a major Australian construction materials producer, is seeking a Project Manager - Alternative Fuels to deliver fuel handling, processing and dosing systems at its Berrima cement operation.

This opportunity combines practical project ownership with equipment that supports alternative fuel use in cement production. You will coordinate delivery within an operating plant, taking a defined package through construction, integration, commissioning readiness and operational handover.

Your role
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager - Capital Projects, you will work alongside engineering, electrical, construction and operations specialists to deliver alternative fuels systems and calciner optimisation works.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering fuel receival, processing and dosing equipment, including conveyors, screening and sorting systems.
  • Managing contractor performance, construction sequencing and installation activities.
  • Coordinating mechanical, process and electrical interfaces.
  • Planning shutdowns and connections to existing plant.
  • Managing budgets, schedules, risks and progress reporting.
  • Ensuring safe execution and readiness for commissioning and handover.
What you will bring
You will have relevant industrial project delivery experience, typically around 3-8 years, with demonstrated responsibility for capital projects of approximately $5 million.
Your background could include recycling, resource recovery, waste processing, manufacturing, mining or other industrial processing environments.
You will bring:
  • Practical experience delivering mechanical, process or materials handling systems.
  • Contractor coordination within a live plant or brownfield environment.
  • Strong scheduling, cost control and risk management skills.
  • A clear understanding of permits, isolations and construction safety.
  • The ability to work closely with engineering and operations teams.
An engineering qualification is desirable. Experience with variable waste streams, bulk solids, fuel systems or resource recovery equipment will be highly regarded.

Project Engineers and Site Engineers ready to step into broader project management responsibility are encouraged to apply.
The salary and opportunity
  • Target salary of $200,000 plus superannuation.
  • Fixed term contract through to mid to late 2028.
  • Ownership of a defined capital project package with visible operational outcomes.
  • The opportunity to broaden your experience across construction, integration and commissioning.
  • Collaboration with specialist engineering and delivery teams within a wider plant upgrade programme.
Make the Southern Highlands your next chapter
Based on site at Berrima, you will have the opportunity to combine substantial project responsibility with the appeal of the Southern Highlands. Historic villages, countryside, wineries, cafés and restaurants provide plenty to enjoy outside work, with Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale nearby.
