Demurrage & Claims Analyst

Supporting a leading global energy and commodities trading company with an extensive international shipping network, looking for an experienced Demurrage & Claims Analyst to join a dynamic shipping team.

You will be responsible for managing demurrage and voyage-related claims, ensuring accurate calculations, timely recoveries, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Calculate, prepare, and negotiate demurrage and voyage-related claims.
• Review charter party terms and assess contractual entitlement.
• Work closely with operators, agents, vessel owners, and counterparties to gather supporting documents and resolve claim issues.
• Maintain accurate claims records and ensure all documentation is complete and properly filed.
• Prepare regular reports on claims status, ageing, recoveries, and outstanding disputes.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to reduce future claims exposure.
• Support legal and insurance teams by preparing documentation for escalated claims when required.
• Assist in improving claims processes, reporting, and data management.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve timely claim resolution.
• Support other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in demurrage, shipping claims, tanker operations, or oil and gas trading.
• Strong understanding of charter parties, laytime, demurrage, and shipping contracts.
• Knowledge of tanker shipping operations and voyage-related claims.
• Familiarity with maritime law or commercial shipping practices is an advantage.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with shipping or claims management systems is beneficial.
