Head of Index Arbitrage Trading Desk – HK Prime Services

A leading multi-asset brokerage in Hong Kong is looking for an experienced trader to build a new index arbitrage function from scratch within its institutional sales and prime brokerage division. This is a founder-style mandate: you'll own the commercial rationale, spot where the desk can generate edge, and shape how the business runs day to day — from process design through to resolving operational snags as they arise. You'll report into the regional head of the sales and prime services franchise and will need to work confidently across time zones and internal functions.

Beyond the trading itself, this is a stakeholder-heavy role. You'll be expected to build durable relationships with both internal partners (operations, legal, compliance, technology, sales) and external counterparties, and to coordinate with outside vendors or advisors where needed to keep build-out projects on track and aligned with firm-wide goals.

What You'll Do

• Execute across cash equities, futures on indices, ETFs, and swap instruments to monetize dislocations between related instruments.

• Manage exposure to directional risk, the cash-futures basis, and cost of carry/funding.

• Build or oversee automated and rules-based pricing/execution tools (Python, C++, or similar) to flag mispricings in real time.

• Capture returns tied to recurring flow events, such as benchmark reconstitution windows and corporate action-driven trading.

• Partner with financing and securities-lending desks on borrow availability and balance-sheet usage.

• A commercial blueprint and operating framework for the new arbitrage strategy.

• End-to-end setup of the desk, from concept to live trading.

• Selection and rollout of the trading technology stack.

• Coordination with middle- and back-office teams to stand up the necessary support infrastructure.
