About the Company
Our client is an established Australian technology decommissioning and resource recovery organisation with a strong focus on sustainability and social impact.
Operating as a certified Social & Indigenous Enterprise, the organisation combines commercial performance with a commitment to creating employment pathways and opportunities for Indigenous Australians. It has received significant industry recognition for its work across sustainability, supplier diversity and Indigenous social enterprise.
The business is experiencing significant growth, nearly doubling its workforce over the past two years. Its Resource Recovery operations have also expanded considerably, with teams now delivering programs across multiple Australian states.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Resource Recovery, the Project Manager will take ownership of the operational delivery and continuous improvement of national telecommunications Resource Recovery programs.
You will manage programs including copper cable and exchange hardware removal and disposal, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget while meeting environmental, social, governance and Indigenous employment objectives.
This is a hands-on position within a fast-paced and growing operation. You will play an important role in supporting continued expansion while maintaining strong commercial outcomes across the broader program.
Working closely with internal leaders, field teams, contractors and major telecommunications clients, you will lead geographically dispersed teams, manage budgets and forecasts, oversee contractor and asset compliance, maintain strong HSEQ standards, manage risks and escalations, and develop effective processes to support consistent delivery.
About You
You will be an experienced Project Manager who is comfortable operating autonomously and taking ownership in an environment where priorities move quickly.
Ideally, you will bring approximately 4–5 years of project management experience, with telecommunications or infrastructure experience highly regarded. Most importantly, you will have demonstrated experience delivering commercially successful projects and understand how to balance profitability with broader organisational and social objectives.
You will bring strong financial management capability across budgeting, forecasting and reporting, together with proven leadership experience and the ability to build and grow teams. Strong stakeholder management, knowledge of WHS/HSEQ and contractor compliance, and confident decision-making will also be important.
You are a self-starter who is prepared to get hands-on, solve problems and establish priorities independently. Telecommunications experience is desirable, while candidates from closely aligned infrastructure environments will also be considered.
The Benefits
This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation and take ownership of a significant, expanding national program.
You will have genuine influence over project and team performance, the opportunity to help build and develop growing operations, and exposure to established long-term telecommunications programs.
Importantly, this role offers something beyond traditional project delivery: the opportunity to achieve strong commercial outcomes while contributing to employment pathways and positive social impact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
