The Organisation
Our client is a large and complex industrial organisation operating across multiple sites throughout Queensland. Employing a significant operational workforce, the business plays a critical role within the manufacturing, processing and infrastructure sectors and is recognised as a major regional employer.

The organisation is currently undertaking a review of its People & Culture function and is seeking an experienced executive leader to provide stability, leadership and continuity during this period.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this six-month contract opportunity will provide executive leadership across the People & Culture function while supporting the business through a period of transition and organisational review.

This role is focused on maintaining operational effectiveness, supporting the executive team, leading the People & Culture function and ensuring business continuity while future-state operating model decisions are being considered.

This is a genuine interim assignment and is not intended to transition into a permanent appointment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership to the People & Culture function.
  • Lead, support and coach the People & Culture leadership team.
  • Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on workforce and organisational matters.
  • Ensure continuity across all People & Culture services and priorities.
  • Support operational leaders across a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Oversee employee and industrial relations matters.
  • Manage organisational risk and workforce issues as they arise.
  • Maintain momentum across key people initiatives and business priorities.
  • Provide insight and support throughout a broader review of the People & Culture function.
  • Ensure a smooth transition to the future permanent leadership structure.

About You
You are an experienced executive People & Culture leader with a track record of operating successfully within large, complex and operationally focused environments.

You are available for immediate start and bring credibility, sound judgement and a pragmatic leadership style that enables you to quickly establish trust with executives, operational leaders and frontline workforces.

You are comfortable stepping into interim assignments and balancing strategic oversight with operational execution.

Your experience will include industries such as:

You will bring:

  • Significant executive-level People & Culture leadership experience.
  • Strong industrial and employee relations capability.
  • Experience supporting unionised workforces.
  • Demonstrated success leading large People & Culture functions.
  • Experience working directly with CEOs and Executive Leadership Teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • The ability to quickly assess priorities, stabilise teams and maintain organisational momentum.

Location
The successful candidate will be required to maintain a significant on-site presence in Townsville throughout the engagement.

Candidates may either be based locally or be willing to work a regular schedule involving approximately three weeks per month in Townsville.

To support this arrangement, accommodation will be provided by the organisation while working in Townsville.

This opportunity may suit candidates based in Brisbane or elsewhere in Queensland who are comfortable maintaining a regular Townsville presence for the duration of the six-month contract. Any personal travel outside agreed work-related travel arrangements will be at the candidate's own expense.
