Senior Manager – Power & Energy, Data Centres

Own the power workstream for a data centre pipeline at the point where it actually gets decided. This is the person who wakes up every morning thinking about how to get power to the sites faster, and has the autonomy to go and make it happen.
This is a hands on execution role in a business at the start of its data centre journey, which means real influence over how the NSW pipeline takes shape rather than inheriting someone else's playbook. You'll be the primary energy lead for New South Wales, working directly to the Director of Power & Energy and close to the wider development team.
You'll be backed by a genuinely credible platform. Sites are already controlled, the capital is in place, and the business has an established data centre track record across Japan, Korea and Singapore to lean on, including a regional centre of excellence for design. This isn't a speculative play waiting on land or funding.
Data centre experience is not a prerequisite.
What matters is that you know how power gets secured in the NSW market and you have the drive to go and secure it. What you'll do
- Drive grid connections and power delivery across the NSW pipeline, owning feasibility assessments, load forecasting, connection applications, augmentation pathways and connection agreement negotiations, and keeping a firm grip on queue positions and programme risk.
- Lead the relationships that unblock progress. You'll be the point of contact with energy retailers and technical consultants, representing the business in utility and regulatory discussions and building the trust that gets connections moving.
- You'll support retail electricity strategy, tariff and market price benchmarking, and model energy costs and risks into feasibility and underwriting so the numbers stand up. You'll also progress renewables, PPAs, certificates and on-site generation, evaluating battery, hybrid and staged solutions where they accelerate delivery or reduce grid dependency.
- Integrate energy into everything the development team does, quality-assuring consultant and network provider outputs, preparing status updates and risk registers for IC papers and board discussions, and keeping the business ahead of network charges, connection queues and regulatory change.
- 6-8 years across energy infrastructure, power markets, grid connections, utilities or infrastructure development
- Working knowledge of Australian electricity networks and connection processes, ideally with NSW-specific familiarity across the energy/utilitiy providers.
- A commercial mind, able to translate energy cost, risk and programme impacts into clear development decisions
- Proven track record engaging utilities, network providers, retailers, renewable developers or technical consultants on connection or procurement workstreams
- Detail oriented and hands-on, comfortable owning multiple workstreams under time pressure within a small, entrepreneurial team
