Salary: €53,875 - €56,570 DOE
Introduction
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable SCADA Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an Electrical, Automation, Computer or SCADA Engineer with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving ability, and a keen eye for system design and detail.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to a broad range of SCADA, telemetry, PLC integration and instrumentation technologies and will play a key role in the design, configuration, testing, deployment and ongoing support of SCADA solutions. Automation experience is desirable, particularly knowledge and practical experience of Bristol Babcock PLCs.
Overview of the Role
This role requires a candidate who can combine strong technical expertise with excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills. The successful candidate will be involved in the full project lifecycle, from system design and implementation through to commissioning and customer support.
The position is predominantly office-based, with occasional site visits required during deployment, commissioning and support phases. A significant aspect of the role involves working with SCADA platforms, particularly Ignition and ICONICS, as well as supporting integration with PLCs, RTUs, telemetry outstations and client systems.
Regular communication with clients is essential, including responding to queries, troubleshooting issues and helping to ensure the reliable operation of deployed SCADA solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide pre-sales support and assist in the design of new SCADA solutions and installations.
- Respond to customer and client requests, incidents and support events.
- Collaborate with SCADA, Automation and Engineering colleagues on the implementation, testing and support of HMI, SCADA, PLC and telemetry software.
- Create software design specifications, configuration documentation and project records.
- Configure, develop, test and support SCADA applications using platforms such as Ignition and ICONICS.
- Deliver client training following implementation.
- Maintain quality standards and consistency across all projects.
- Work effectively to project deadlines.
- Manage project files, software licensing requirements and related documentation.
- Liaise with client IT departments regarding security and system requirements.
- Maintain housekeeping and documentation standards across all SCADA projects.
- Develop standards and specifications aligned with customer requirements.
- Build and maintain reusable libraries and solutions to improve future project delivery efficiency.
- Contribute to work breakdown structures, project estimates and delivery plans for assigned engineering tasks.
Experience & Technical Skills
Essential Requirements
- Strong understanding of SCADA system architecture and components.
- Experience with SCADA platforms, particularly Ignition and ICONICS.
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or similar.
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols including:
- Modbus
- DNP3
- OPC
- Other relevant SCADA protocols
- Experience with SCADA systems, telemetry, HMI configuration and industrial communications.
- Ability to interpret PLC, RTU and telemetry interfaces and support integration between field systems and SCADA applications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL databases and database management.
- Understanding of remote support tools such as Remote Desktop and TeamViewer.
- Knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP and related industrial networking technologies.
- Awareness of cybersecurity best practices within industrial control and SCADA environments.
- Experience designing and managing SCADA alarms and notifications.
- Full Irish Driving Licence with flexibility to travel to client sites throughout Ireland.
Desirable Experience
- Automation and PLC programming experience.
- Knowledge or practical experience with Bristol Babcock PLCs.
- Experience using AI technologies.
- Knowledge of data science and statistical analysis.
- Experience with VB, SQL and related development tools.
