CoreStaff Darwin have a exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to step into a position where you can truly make your mark, take ownership of maintaining and managing accounts and financial preparation.
  
You’ll play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial information while working closely with the CFO and operational teams to provide meaningful insights, solve problems and help drive continuous improvement.
  
This role also offers an exciting pathway into leadership. As the business continues to grow, you’ll have the opportunity to build your leadership capability and progress towards managing and developing a finance team.
  
Key Responsibilities
  
  • Take ownership of the accuracy, completeness and integrity of the company's financial information.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journals, cost allocations and monthly reconciliations.
  • Support and oversee the Accounts Payable function, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and efficiently and supplier relationships and accounts are well maintained.
  • Coordinate Accounts Receivable activities and provide broader support across the finance function as required.
  • Monitor cash flow and contribute to forecasting, budgeting and effective cash flow management.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Support monthly and annual financial reporting processes, ensuring information is accurate and deadlines are consistently achieved.
  • Investigate discrepancies, identify the root cause of issues and take a proactive approach to resolving accounting matters.
  • Partner with the CFO on financial reporting, analysis and projects designed to improve business performance.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams and provide practical financial guidance and support.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen finance processes, systems and internal controls as the organisation continues to grow.
  • Develop your leadership skills with the longer-term opportunity to lead, mentor and manage a team of accounting professionals.
  
What You'll Bring
  
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of accounting experience, ideally gained within a service-based or operational environment.
  • Strong Accounts Payable experience.
  • Some previous experience with supervisory / team lead experience preferred
  • A strong sense of ownership and pride in delivering accurate, reliable financial information to management.
  • Experience working with accounting systems; Xero experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements.
  • A natural problem-solver who enjoys investigating issues and finding practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across different areas of the business.
  • A proactive, positive and hands-on approach, with the curiosity and drive to keep learning.
