Production Supervisor / Production ManagerAPS Welding | Inverell, NSW

APS Welding is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor or Production Manager to join our team in Inverell.
This is a newly created role and an opportunity to have a real influence on how our workshop operates as the business continues to grow.
We're looking for someone who can bring strong practical production experience, attention to detail and the ability to lead people well. Depending on your experience and capability, the role could be suited to someone ready to step into a Production Supervisor position or an experienced Production Manager looking for a hands-on regional opportunity.
About the roleYou'll take responsibility for helping keep jobs moving efficiently through the workshop, while working closely with clients, suppliers and the APS Welding team.

The working weekThis is a permanent, full-time position with a standard 38-hour week.
Typical hours are 6.00am–4.30pm Monday to Thursday, with a shorter six-hour day on Friday.
The Production Supervisor/Manager needs to be available for the hours the workshop is operating, with only occasional weekend work. Weekend requirements would typically be no more than a half day.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and coordinating production activities across the workshop
- Directing and supporting the fabrication and welding team
- Managing jobs from commencement through to completion
- Liaising with clients and understanding their requirements
- Assisting with quoting and estimating
- Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings
- Supporting procurement and ensuring materials and equipment are available when required
- Monitoring quality and managing non-conformances
- Supporting recruitment and helping shape and restructure the team as the business grows
- Managing attendance, safety compliance and day-to-day workforce requirements
- Identifying opportunities to improve workshop efficiency and ways of working
- Working closely with the team to maintain high standards of safety, quality and customer service
- Experience supervising or managing a fabrication, engineering, manufacturing or similar production environment
- A trade qualification, ideally in Boilermaking, Fabrication, Welding or a related engineering trade, is strongly preferred
- Experience reading and interpreting technical and engineering drawings
- Experience managing people and coordinating a busy workshop
- A practical understanding of production planning, quality and procurement
- Experience dealing with workplace safety, and resolving issues
- Strong attention to detail
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance
- Good communication skills and the confidence to deal directly with clients
- A hands-on, practical approach and the ability to make decisions
