Senior Software Engineer (Java/Spring boot)

A leading technology company in Japan is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer / Technical Lead to join its International Business and Product Development organization. The successful candidate will take a hands-on technical leadership role in designing, developing, and delivering scalable cloud-native applications and microservices for international B2B2C and multi-tenant platforms.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable microservices and cloud-based applications.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to software engineers.
- Design and implement secure, resilient, highly available, and high-performance systems.
- Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot within a modern microservices architecture.
- Design and integrate REST APIs and cloud-native services on AWS.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Designers, Business stakeholders, and Engineering teams in an Agile environment.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, technical roadmaps, and engineering best practices.
- Drive code quality, system reliability, observability, and continuous improvement.
- Support the development of B2B2C, multi-tenant, and cross-platform applications.
- Contribute to innovative AI-powered products and solutions where required.
- Work with international and cross-functional teams to deliver products for global customers.

Required Skills:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a Team/Technical Lead role.
- Proven experience delivering complex B2B2C or multi-tenant platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and scalable backend systems.
- Strong AWS experience, including RDS, Cognito, ECS, SQS, SNS, and ElastiCache.
- Experience with Java 21/25, REST APIs, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, and secure, highly available system design.
- Experience with Grafana, Sentry, or similar observability tools.

Work hours: 9:00 – 17:30
Work Location: Tokyo
Work Style: Work from home 1day per week
