The Role
- Own the continuous optimisation of the general ledger, Chart of Accounts, reporting dimensions, and hierarchies.
- Support/lead the upcoming GL upgrade project – including structure design, accounting logic, data migration, UAT, and post-go-live stabilisation.
- Support the Finance Manager with timely month-end and year-end close processes, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and audit preparation.
- Ensure seamless integration of sub-ledgers (AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, etc.) and drive automation to minimise manual effort.
- Partner with the Business Analyst, Finance Manager and Commercial Manager to maintain a high-quality finance data model that powers automated Power BI reporting and insights.
- Embed strong internal controls, accounting standards (IFRS/NZ IFRS), and process improvements across finance workflows.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, architecturally sound solutions.
- You are a systems-minded accountant with strong technical accounting skills and a genuine interest in finance systems and data. You bring:
- Significant hands-on experience with general ledgers and ERP systems (Xero, MYOB, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365 or similar) in a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Proven involvement in ERP/GL implementations, upgrades, data migration, testing, and stabilisation.
- Strong practical Power BI skills – building and maintaining datasets, dataflows, and reporting solutions.
- Excellent grounding in traditional accounting principles, reconciliations, controls, and month-end/year-end processes.
- A proactive, solution-oriented communicator who bridges finance, IT, and architecture stakeholders effectively.
- Committed to delivering strong outcomes across the business.
- Comfortable working through challenging and complex situations.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification is highly regarded, as is exposure to the agricultural or primary industry sector.
