About the Role
As a Senior WHS Advisor, you will provide trusted technical advice and practical support across a broad range of work health and safety matters.
You will contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of WHS systems, policies, procedures and programs, while helping build safety capability and ownership across the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert WHS advice and leadership to managers, executives, employees and volunteers.
- Building strong and productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of WHS management systems and strategic work plans.
- Developing, reviewing and implementing WHS policies, procedures, guidelines and supporting documentation.
- Monitoring and reporting on hazards, incidents, trends and WHS performance data.
- Providing advice and reporting to WHS committees and other governance forums.
- Undertaking incident investigations and supporting the development of appropriate preventative and corrective actions.
- Developing, implementing and evaluating internal WHS audit programs.
- Supporting external audits and compliance verification activities.
- Identifying system gaps and developing practical corrective action plans.
- Providing technical advice on WHS legislation, regulations, Australian Standards, codes of practice and organisational policies.
- Supporting risk management activities and the identification and control of workplace hazards.
- Contributing to safety initiatives that improve organisational capability, performance and continuous improvement.
- Monitoring WHS programs and services to ensure agreed outcomes, objectives and performance measures are achieved.
- Preparing clear, accurate and timely WHS reports, presentations and briefing materials.
- Supporting and mentoring other WHS professionals and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
You will be an experienced WHS professional who can operate confidently at both a strategic and operational level.
You will have:
- Strong knowledge and practical application of Work Health and Safety legislation and associated regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience providing WHS advice within a complex organisation.
- Experience developing and maintaining WHS management systems, policies and procedures.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and their practical application.
- Experience conducting or supporting workplace investigations, audits and risk assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse WHS data, identify trends and prepare meaningful reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to influence, negotiate and provide credible advice to leaders and operational teams.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- A proactive approach to identifying risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and building positive safety cultures.
- The ability to work collaboratively while also operating with a high degree of autonomy.
