- Explore and validate customers’ needs, pain points and requirement by applying the appropriate research methodologies to inform UX direction and solve key problems.
- Collaborate and partner with different product managers and cross-functional project teams to understand their business goals, define research objectives and create suitable recommendation and design research plans to align with overall product strategy
- Design and deliver end-to-end research across all phases of design (discovery, concept testing and evaluation), using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g. usability testing, IDIs, focus groups, workshop, and survey) depending on the questions being answered
- Lead all research preparation and operations including recruitment approach, screener development, participant screening session scheduling, and study logistics.
- Moderate design research sessions confidently across methods ( including IDIs and focus group, not solely usability testing), adapting discussion guides, testing flow/concepts and probing effectively to generate high-quality insights.
- Manage external research vendors/agencies for larger scale projects, develop clear briefs, algin on methodology, review screeners and discussion guides, oversee fieldwork quality, and ensure deliverables meet agreed stands, timelines and budget.
- Interpret and synthesis research data, identify key themes, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Present and communication research findings and recommended actions clearly to wide range of stakeholders (from designers to non-design partners), explaining the methodology and evidence in a simple, persuasive way to drive decision
- Collaborate closely with design, project, delivery and other teams to ensure relevant data/insights are incorporated into planning and design decision.
- Champion a user-centered, evidence-led approach and embed customer-centric thinking across the organization.
- Support UX designer in creating or refining design concepts, wireframes and clickable prototype for usability testing and / or design concept testing (where needed)
Requirement
- At least 3 years of experience working in research and UX related industries
- Ability to solve complex design research challenges and select the right method for the problem (not “one-size-fits-all) usability testing)
- Strong working knowledge of qualitative research methodologies, with hands-on moderation experience (including IDIs and focus groups), plus workshops and usability testing
- Demonstrable experience with quantitative research (e.g., survey design/questionnaire writing, sampling/quotas, interpreting results) and the ability to triangulate quant+qual findings into clear recommendations.
- Hands on experience in all aspects of design research delivery: including recruitment, scheduling and logistics; understanding protocol; moderation skills; analysis/synthesis; research reporting and presenting outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively with colleagues, senior stakeholders and research vendors/agencies
- Ability to deliver results on time and within budget; strong project management and prioritization skills.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through uncertainty with structure and pragmatism.
- Strong project management skills and be able to work under pressure and tight timeline.
- Open to explore different types of research methodologies; flexible in approaches to see opportunities for design research
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence the design team, stakeholders, product managers and others; Proven collaborative and team oriented.
- Understand UX basics such as personas, user journeys/flows, wireframing and usability principles.
- Working knowledge of design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, user testing, optimal workshop) to support research activities.
- Strong commitment to improving customer experiences, with a track record of putting user needs at the center of product and design decisions.
- Last but not least, curious about people, motivated to challenge the status quo, and passionate about improving customer experiences.
