Shavings Slinger – Metal Manufacturing

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Shavings Slinger to join our metal manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for handling metal shavings and operating equipment used to separate oil from metal shavings for proper processing and recycling. The ideal candidate is comfortable working around industrial machinery, can safely operate a forklift and crane hoist, and is able to perform physically demanding work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate a high-speed centrifuge to separate oils from metal shavings.
• Load, unload, and move metal shavings using appropriate material-handling equipment.
• Safely operate a forklift to transport shavings, containers, and materials throughout the facility.
• Operate a crane hoist to move and position heavy containers and materials.
• Monitor equipment during operation and report any issues or abnormalities.
• Properly handle, collect, and dispose of separated oils and metal shavings.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and operating guidelines.
• Perform routine housekeeping and other material-handling duties as assigned.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, industrial, material-handling, or warehouse experience preferred.
• Forklift experience required; ability to safely operate a forklift is essential.
• Experience operating an overhead crane, crane hoist, or similar lifting equipment is preferred.
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working around industrial machinery, metal shavings, oils, and manufacturing equipment.
• Strong attention to safety and ability to follow established procedures.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Ability to work around metal shavings, oils, noise, and industrial equipment.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, dependable, and comfortable operating industrial equipment. Someone with forklift experience who has worked in a metal manufacturing, machining, recycling, or heavy industrial environment would be a strong fit.
