Job Title: Data Observability Engineer
Duration: 12 Months+ contract
Location: New York, NY
Pay Rate: $85- $95/hr W2 . NO C2C


Position Overview We are seeking a Data Observability Engineer to lead the implementation and expansion of observability across our enterprise data ecosystem. This role will be responsible for designing, integrating, and maintaining Datadog-based observability for modern data platforms, ensuring visibility into platform health, data pipelines, and operational performance.

This is not a traditional Data Engineer or ETL role. Instead, the ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Datadog and experience integrating enterprise data platforms into a centralized observability framework. The goal is to provide proactive monitoring, alerting, and ultimately enable autonomous issue detection and remediation across the organization's data landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide data observability solutions using Datadog.
• Integrate data platforms and technologies into Datadog to provide centralized monitoring, dashboards, metrics, and alerting.
• Build observability for modern data platforms including:
  • Snowflake
  • Databricks
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Oracle
  • SQL Server
  • MongoDB
  • Power BI
  • Tableau
• Develop dashboards that provide real-time visibility into platform health, performance, availability, and operational issues.
• Partner with Data Engineering teams to instrument pipelines and improve monitoring across the data ecosystem.
• Help drive automation initiatives that enable proactive detection and autonomous remediation of platform issues.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and engineering teams to improve operational reliability and performance.
• Recommend observability best practices and help establish enterprise monitoring standards.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience implementing Datadog in enterprise environments.
• Experience integrating data engineering platforms into Datadog for monitoring and observability.
• Working knowledge of modern data platforms such as:
  • Snowflake (preferred)
  • Databricks
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Oracle
  • SQL Server
  • MongoDB
  • Power BI
  • Tableau
• Understanding of data pipelines, data warehouses, and enterprise analytics platforms.
• Experience building monitoring dashboards, alerts, metrics, and operational health reporting.
• Ability to work across multiple engineering teams and technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing Snowflake observability within Datadog.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud data platforms.
• Familiarity with automation and self-healing monitoring solutions.
• Exposure to AI-driven or autonomous operations (AIOps) is a plus.
• Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments.

Estimated Min Rate: $ 85.00
