Are you an organised and detail-oriented payroll professional with experience coordinating payroll data and ensuring accuracy? This Payroll Coordinator role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in supporting the finance function by preparing payroll information for a large weekly payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

Working closely with the Finance Director, you'll be responsible for collating, checking and maintaining payroll data for approximately 450 weekly-paid employees. This position would suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with figures and takes pride in delivering a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

What you'll be doing

As a Payroll Coordinator, you'll take ownership of payroll administration, ensuring all payroll information is accurate and submitted on time. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collating and preparing payroll data for approximately 450 weekly-paid employees
  • Processing and checking employee timesheets to ensure accuracy
  • Recording and updating payroll amendments, including holidays, sickness absence, overtime and deductions
  • Ensuring all payroll information is complete and submitted within weekly deadlines
  • Liaising with managers to resolve timesheet queries and payroll discrepancies
  • Maintaining accurate employee payroll records and supporting documentation
  • Supporting the Finance Director with the weekly payroll process
  • Ensuring payroll data is handled confidentially and in line with company procedures
  • Producing payroll reports and assisting with payroll reconciliations where required
  • Responding to employee payroll queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Assisting with payroll administration for new starters, leavers and employee changes
  • Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and administrative efficiency
  • Working collaboratively with Finance, HR and departmental managers to ensure payroll accuracy

About you

To succeed as a Payroll Coordinator, you'll bring excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, along with:

  • Previous experience in payroll administration or payroll coordination
  • Experience processing timesheets and payroll-related data
  • Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience working with payroll systems (advantageous)
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict weekly deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise with managers and employees
  • A proactive, professional and confidential approach to handling sensitive information
  • A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to support the wider finance function
