Apply directInspired Recruitment is partnering with a well regarded Catholic secondary school in Melbourne's west, near Werribee, to appoint a VCE Leader & English Teacher. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2027, and it offers a real opportunity to shape the senior years experience of a warm and close-knit school community.
About the role
As VCE Leader, you will take ownership of the school's VCE program, working alongside the leadership team to support senior students, guide staff and drive strong outcomes across Years 11 and 12. The position carries a teaching load of VCE English, so you will remain hands-on in the classroom while leading the wider program. You will be a visible presence for senior students and families, and a trusted point of contact for colleagues teaching in the VCE space.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the school's VCE program, including assessment, SACs and VCAA compliance
- Teach VCE English to Year 11 and 12 students with energy and expertise
- Support, mentor and build capacity in the VCE teaching team
- Monitor student progress and work closely with students, families and wellbeing staff
- Contribute to the Catholic identity and broader life of the school
What we are looking for
- Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) is essential
- Proven experience teaching VCE English at Years 11 and 12 is required
- Leadership experience in a secondary setting, or a clear readiness to step into a leadership role
- A sound understanding of VCAA requirements and senior assessment practices
- A practising Catholic, or someone who is willing to support and uphold the Catholic ethos of the school, is desired
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, student-centred approach
What is on offer
A full-time, permanent leadership position with a salary of $138,000 to $150,000 (based on the new award that will be approved by the DOE/MACS) plus superannuation, commencing January 2027. You will join a supportive leadership team in a school that values its staff, invests in professional growth and places students at the heart of everything it does. The school is easily accessible from Melbourne's western suburbs and surrounding areas.
