Site Reliability Engineer

A leading organisation in the Defence and National Security sector is seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical digital solutions that require high levels of security, reliability, and resilience. The position is pivotal in ensuring the stability and performance of secure digital infrastructure supporting national interests.

Role Overview
Location: Hampshire (Hybrid flexibility)
Package: £70,000 per annum, plus comprehensive benefits including private medical cover, a generous pension scheme, bonus opportunities, and professional development programs

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, improve, and maintain core systems and automation tools
• Designing and implementing resilient and secure infrastructure within internal and customer environments
• Leading proof-of-concept deployments and integrating new technologies into production environments
• Conducting security assessments and implementing hardening measures to minimise vulnerabilities
• Troubleshooting performance issues and enhancing operational efficiency

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in Linux administration, especially Ubuntu, with a solid understanding of Windows infrastructure
• Scripting expertise using Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation purposes
• Experience with automation and DevOps tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and GIT, along with familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code practices and security best practices
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach
