HARKE has partnered with a well-established independent school in Darwin seeking an experienced Humanities and Social Sciences educator to lead the Learning Area across Years 6–12.

This is an opportunity for a strong classroom practitioner to step into curriculum and faculty leadership while continuing in a permanent teaching position. The successful applicant will lead curriculum development, strengthen teaching and assessment practices, develop staff and support engaging pathways for students across Humanities and Social Sciences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum and learning pathways across Years 6–12.
  • Support contemporary, engaging and student-centred teaching practice.
  • Lead and develop faculty staff through planning, feedback and professional learning.
  • Strengthen assessment, moderation and the use of student achievement data.
  • Develop extracurricular learning opportunities that encourage curiosity and engagement.
  • Contribute to broader teaching and learning priorities across the school.

About You

The successful applicant will bring strong disciplinary knowledge across Humanities and Social Sciences, demonstrated curriculum expertise and the ability to translate this into effective teaching and learning. They will be confident leading colleagues, supporting professional growth and building a collaborative faculty culture.

What Is Offered

  • Permanent full-time teaching position.
  • Two-year leadership appointment as Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area Coordinator.
  • Additional PAR allowance of $12,678 gross per annum, increasing to $13,224 from July 2027.
  • 180 minutes leadership release.
  • Salary range of $95,551 – $137,031 gross per annum, depending on experience.
